Golf in Donegal
When Sir Nick Faldo made his first visit to Ballyliffin in North Donegal to play golf in the mid 90’s, it seemed to many that our secret was out. For years Donegal natives and a small number of adventurous golf tourists knew that our little county boasted some of the best links golf in the world. When the six time major winner publicly admitted his love for the Old Course at Ballyliffin, many thought that the quiet fairways on our championship courses would be a thing of the past.
In the 20 years since, the standard of golf course in Donegal has soared. Ballyliffin saw its second championship course ‘the Glashedy Links’ open in 2002. Nick Faldo himself also put his stamp on the Old Course at Ballyliffin with improvements made in 2006.
